The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) announces that 32,617 nursing examinees passed the June 2009 Nursing Board Exam, with a nursing graduate from Cebu topping the list.

PRC commissioner Ruth Padilla was quoted that the latest nursing exam had a 41.87 percent passing rate. The test was taken by 77,901 examinees last June 6 and 7, 2009.

Topping the list was Golda Manto Yap of the Felipe R. Verallo Memorial Foundation in Bogo, Cebu. A total of 50 examinees made it to the Top 10 rankings.

The June 2009 nursing board examination was administered in Manila and 10 other regional offices including Baguio, Cebu, Davao, Legaspi, Lucena, Cagayan De Oro, Iloilo, Tuguegarao, Zamboanga, Pagadian, Tacloban, and Jolo.

The PRC noted that the latest results were 2.64 percent lower than that from the February 2009 exams, which had a 44.51 percent passing rate.

Saint Paul University-Dumaguete had the best result when all 112 of its examinees hurdled the board for a 100-percent passing rate.

The results for three successful examinees were withheld by the board.

The oath-taking ceremony for the successful examinees as well as those who passed previous exams but have not taken their oath will be held before the nursing board on August 18 and 19 at 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the SMX Convention Center, SM Mall of Asia, Pasay City.
